Ohrid - Museum “The Bay of Bones” (N. Macedonia) - St. Naum Ohridski - Galichica National Park - Pogradec (Albania) - Ohrid
This full-day tour offers a relaxed blend of lakeside scenery, cultural heritage, and cross-border discovery, all centered around the timeless beauty of Lake Ohrid. It begins in Ohrid’s historic core with a guided walk through the city’s most iconic sites. You'll visit the Filevi Pearl Workshop, the Robevi House museum, and the National Workshop for Handmade Paper. From there, the walk continues to the Church of St. Sophia, the Ancient Macedonian Theatre, and the hilltop ensemble of St. Mary Peribleptos, Samuel’s Fortress, and Plaoshnik. The final stop in the old town is the Church of St. John at Kaneo, perched above the lake and offering one of the most famous views in the Balkans.
Leaving the city, the tour follows the lakeshore south to the Bay of Bones, an open-air museum that recreates a prehistoric settlement built on stilts above the water. The visit offers a glimpse into early life along the lake’s edge. Not far from there is the Monastery of St. Naum, a serene complex surrounded by spring-fed waters and peacock-filled gardens. A short boat ride through the crystal springs adds a peaceful touch to this sacred and natural setting.
Crossing into Albania, the route hugs the shoreline toward Pogradec, where a lakeside lunch awaits. The meal typically features koran fish, a local specialty, served fresh by the water. After some time to relax or explore the promenade, the return journey takes the high road over Galichica National Park. From the summit, you’ll see both Lake Ohrid and Lake Prespa, a rare double-lake panorama framed by mountain peaks.
This tour is ideal for travelers who want to experience local life on both sides of the border while enjoying scenic drives, heritage walks, and unhurried meals by the water.
