This five-hour tour is designed for travelers who want to experience both the cultural depth of Bitola and the quiet charm of rural life in the Pelister foothills.
The day begins with a guided walk through Bitola’s historic landmarks. You’ll explore the Clock Tower, Isak Çelebi Mosque, Bezisten, and the Old Bazaar, where East meets West in both architecture and atmosphere. The route continues past the Yeni Mosque, the grand St. Demetrius Church, and along the Shirok Sokak promenade, Bitola’s lively pedestrian street lined with cafés and colorful buildings. Stops at the Catholic Church, the Heart of Jesus monument, and the House of the Army highlight the city’s multicultural history.
The National Museum offers a closer look at Bitola’s past, including a room dedicated to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, one of the city’s most famous former students. Nearby, Heraclea Lyncestis reveals the remains of a Roman city, complete with preserved mosaics and an open-air theater. A short panoramic drive follows, showing parts of Bitola not easily reached on foot, including the Jewish, French, and German cemeteries.
From the city, the tour heads into nature with a scenic drive to Hotel Molika in Pelister National Park, where guests can enjoy a short break surrounded by pine forests and mountain air. The final part of the journey leads to the village of Rotino, nestled in the rolling hills at the foot of the mountain. Here, you’ll visit a local organic farm and taste homemade chestnut honey and sheep’s milk cheese, traditional flavors tied closely to the land and the season.
This tour offers a balanced mix of history, landscape, and local food culture. It’s a great choice for curious travelers looking to go beyond the city streets and enjoy an authentic, countryside experience.
