Bitola – Ohrid – Struga – Radožda – Vevčani – Bitola

The Vevčani Springs Day Escape is a thirteen-hour round trip that takes guests from Bitola through the cultural heart of Ohrid and Struga to the natural wonder of Vevčani, a village known for its underground springs and strong local traditions.

The day starts in Bitola with a detailed tour of the city’s historic landmarks. Visitors explore the Clock Tower, Isak Çelebi Mosque, the covered Ottoman Bezisten, and the Old Bazaar before continuing to the Yeni Mosque and St. Demetrius Church. A walk down Shirok Sokak, Bitola’s main promenade, includes stops at the Catholic Church, the Heart of Jesus monument, and the House of the Army. The National Museum offers a glimpse into the city’s modern past, with a special room dedicated to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The Roman ruins of Heraclea Lyncestis and a vehicle loop past the Jewish, French, and German cemeteries complete the first part of the journey.

From Bitola, the tour moves to Ohrid, where guests visit a full set of UNESCO-listed sites. Stops include the Filevi Pearl Workshop, Robevi House, the Handmade Paper Workshop, Church of St. Sophia, the ancient theatre, St. Mary Peribleptos, Samuel’s Fortress, Plaoshnik, and the Church of St. John at Kaneo. After a break along Ohrid’s lakefront, the tour continues north to Struga, where the Black Drim River flows through the town center. A short stop at a riverside café and a visit to the rock-carved Church of Archangel Michael in Radožda introduce a more quiet, rural rhythm.

The highlight of the day is Vevčani, where visitors follow shaded trails along crystal-clear karst springs that gush from the base of Mount Jablanica. Known for its independence, humor, and legends, Vevčani is a place of both natural beauty and folk stories. The return to Bitola passes back through Ohrid at dusk, rounding out a day of culture, nature, and storytelling.
