Pearl Workshop Filevi - Robevi House - The National Workshop for Handmade Paper - Church of St. Sophia - Ancient Macedonian Theatre of Ohrid - Church of St. Mary Peribleptos - Samuel's Fortress - Plaoshnik Archaeological Park - Church of St. John at Kaneo

This half-day walking tour is the perfect way to explore the best of Ohrid’s old town in just a few hours. Designed for curious travelers who want to learn, see, and enjoy without rushing, the tour follows a relaxed route through nine of the city’s most iconic landmarks. It begins with a visit to the Filevi Pearl Workshop, where you’ll see how Ohrid’s famous lake pearls are made using a traditional method passed down through generations. Just around the corner is the Robevi House, a historic residence turned museum that gives insight into life during Ohrid’s 19th-century heyday.

The walk continues to the National Workshop for Handmade Paper, where you’ll watch paper being produced using a Gutenberg-style press. Then it’s on to the Church of St. Sophia, one of the oldest and most important churches in the region, known for its well-preserved frescoes. Nearby, the Ancient Macedonian Theatre offers wide views and a great photo opportunity, with the lake and rooftops in the background.

Climbing slightly uphill, you’ll reach the Church of St. Mary Peribleptos, followed by the remains of Samuel’s Fortress and the Plaoshnik archaeological site, where layers of history from early Christianity and earlier periods come together. The tour ends at one of the most photographed sites in the Balkans, the Church of St. John at Kaneo, perched on a cliff above Lake Ohrid. With its iconic setting and peaceful surroundings, it’s a perfect spot to rest and take in the beauty of the area.

Along the way, there’s time for a lakefront espresso or juice and a moment to browse for small artisanal souvenirs. This trek is ideal as a morning activity, giving you a rich cultural experience and still leaving time for swimming, lunch, or boating in the afternoon.
